Summary

Oversee the maintenance function for Draglines as well as welding crews for a 40+ million ton per year surface coal mining complex. Responsible for training a Colombian workforce and developing leaders within that workforce, producing predictable and high-quality maintenance and welding results on a varied fleet of surface mining equipment, especially the Draglines.

SCHEDULE, TRANSPORTATION AND RELOCATION

TWO WEEKS ON, ONE WEEK OFF ROTATION. SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL FLY DIRECTLY TO COLOMBIA ON A PRIVATE COMPANY PLANE AND SPEND TWO WEEKS IN-COUNTRY. THE CANDIDATE WILL THEN RETURN TO THE US FOR ONE WEEK OFF. FOOD AND HOUSING ARE PROVIDED WHILE IN COLOMBIA AT THE MINE SITE. COMPANY PAID RELOCATION ASSISTANCE TO THE RESIDE NEAR CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS IN THE SOUTHEAST US AREA IS AVAILABLE. SHOULD THE CANDIDATE ELECT NOT TO RELOCATE, TRANSPORTATION TO/FROM CORPORATE REGIONAL AIRPORT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CANDIDATE.

Responsibilities

  • Complete electrical designs, specifications, estimates, scope for various capex projects insuring compliance with codes and standards.
  • Supervise, review and approve electrical design(s) completed by contractors and consultants.
  • Monitor performance of electrical engineering and construction contractors to insure conformance with applicable provisions of construction contract agreements.
  • Establish policies, procedures, and methods to insure safe electrical construction and erection work on all projects; monitor compliance.
  • Monitor all field electrical construction/erection including plans, procedures, methods, and techniques.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years supervising at least 40 hourly maintenance personnel in a large surface mining operation, specializing in walking dragline maintenance.
  • Ardent commitment to safety.
  • International experience highly preferred.
  • BS Degree in Mechanical or Mining Engineering preferred.
  • Possess interpersonal skills which enable effective interactions with production and maintenance staff.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience gaining cost savings through efficiency or other processes.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop team capability through constructive and encouraging leadership.
  • Spanish language proficiency highly preferred (demonstrated ability to learn a foreign language is acceptable)
  • Strong technical skills in dragline maintenance and welding for a large surface mining operation.
  • Demonstrated training, development, and management experience, preferably with foreign workforce in a large international operation.
