Summary

Responsible for implementation and administration of Region’s Safety and Health Programs and Policies. Territory of responsibility includes surface mines, asphalt, and ready-mix, clean-fill landfill and heavy duty shops in Northern CA. WEST COAST US. Responsibilities

  • Conducting MSHA/Cal OSHA compliance inspections and Company audits.
  • Executing Region’s Industrial Hygiene/Occupational Health Program for Central and Northern CA region which includes anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control of recognized health hazards in our business lines and facilitates annual/periodic occupational health testing.
  • Conducting industrial hygiene personal exposure monitoring following Corporate Sampling Plan.
  • Conducting and documenting incident investigations including recommendations for loss/injury prevention.
  • Writing safety alerts and contributing articles for the Division Safety Newsletter.
  • Serving as liaison between regulatory agencies and senior/operations management.
  • Promotes a safe work environment that meets all State and Federal rules and regulations
  • Conducting/facilitating various safety training programs. Must be comfortable and effective communicator in front of groups.
  • Representing the Company in industry associations, and participates in Company S&H Committees, special projects, as assigned. Must possess the ability to interface and communicate with various levels of management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least one (1) to three (3) years of work experience in the safety and health or related field are required for this position. Experience in mining/ construction/ operations management/ engineering is highly preferred.
  • An Associate degree (AA) is required; a Bachelors degree or an advanced degree is desired.
  • Candidates should have strong knowledge in safety and health regulations (MSHA, OSHA) and hazard recognition.
  • Knowledge of mining, asphalt, landfill and ready mix operations is preferred.
  • Previous experience in performing incident investigations, writing reports, and performing exposure monitoring is desirable.
  • Should be able to articulate and provide examples of leadership skills that motivate employees and managers toward safe work behaviors.
