Summary

As a member of the Process Engineering Department, provide engineering, chemistry, mineral processing or materials science support to manufacturing efforts. Work with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality Control, Purchasing, EH&S and Marketing to support business objectives. MID-ATLANTIC US LOCATION. Responsibilities

Support efforts to develop new roofing granule products, lower cost or higher capacity production processes and to find uses for byproducts and waste. Conduct raw material (new, lower cost, or alternate source), new product and modified manufacturing process parameter (production rate, firing temperature, alternate formula) plant trials at each plant. Develop process improvements to reduce manufacturing costs and/or improve product quality. Assist with complaint investigations and plant technical problems. Develop process flowsheets for new processes and modified existing processes. Write project status and plant trial reports, including discussion of the financial impact of proposed recommended actions. Develop and Maintain information records including plant trial reports, PSM sheet updates, RFPA’s, Plant Audit reports and process flow sheets. Conduct Plant Audits and provide annual review and updating of plant Commodity Cost sheets for granule products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical or Mining).
  • 3+ years related experience
  • Knowledge of Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Mineral Processing.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and utilize existing resources.)
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
